Places to See
This page will in future feature some places we have seen, visited, stayed at - or perhaps, just enjoyed.
It is pure coincidence that the two offerings currently on the page are in France; we recently enjoyed a 24-hour visit covering the two sites shown and enjoyed them so much we wanted to share them.
Our first offering is a winery well worth a visit. It is the Chateau Saint-Jacques d'Albas. We have also got a map page to help you find it
click on this link for the map.
The Chateau has a website
click here for the website . Do watch the interview with Graham on YouTube for which there is a link on the domain's home page.
You will find phone number and fax numbers, e-mail address and all the information about opening times etc. on the 'Contact' page.
The next offer; if you are looking for an interesting, charming place to spend a few days - maybe, before you go off on a Canal du Midi canal boat - think about the Auberge de l'Arbousier in 11200 Homps in France's Aude (11) department.
"On the banks of the Midi Canal, the Auberge de l'Arbousier is a renovated former wine storage house. The dining room has original stone walls and a wooden ceiling. The terrace looks onto the canal, in the shade of plane trees."
The auberge claims to have a website; www.aubergearbousier.com, which will not help you much as it takes you to a page where you have to choose a browser; this in turn asks for your user ID and password. As I wrote, it doesn't help much. The alternative is to make a booking through the Logis de France website
click on this link. There are also some photos of the Auberge to be found.
The e-mail address for the Auberge is auberge.arbousier@wanadoo.fr
If you want to know where the Auberge is
click on this link. The main thing which you will find when you arrive there is a welcome, a clean comfortable room with great beds, a friendly staff, good food and a quiet location 5 minutes walk from the centre of Homps. Enjoy!
Incidentally, if you are wondering what an Arbousier is, it's a Strawberry Tree. Honestly.
To see a picture of fruit on a strawberry tree click on the small image.
Keep looking - I expect to find something else soon.
